Areia Preta: The Kitchen of Macao's Locals
Areia Preta (literally "Black Sand") is a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood in central-northern Macao Peninsula, with Areia Preta Main Road as its main axis, connecting north to Fai Chi Kei and south to Horta e Costa and São Lázaro. One of Macao's most densely populated residential areas, with no tourist attractions, no free shuttle buses, no souvenir shops. precisely because of this, Areia Preta has preserved the most unadorned local food ecosystem—no frills, real prices, generous portions, owners who recognize every regular customer's face.
