St. Francis Xavier Church in Coloane Town Center
Built in 1928, this small church is Coloane's landmark building. Its yellow-and-white Baroque exterior looks particularly stunning under the blue sky. The small plaza in front of the church is often filled with locals resting and chatting. Inside, the relic of St. Francis Xavier's hand bone is displayed — a significant sacred item for Catholics. The best photo time is 10-11 AM when sunlight hits the facade perfectly without casting shadows.
Coloane Fishing Village Pier Area
Walking down the path beside the church for 5 minutes brings you to the authentic fishing village pier. Colorful fishing boats are anchored here, and in the morning you can often see fishermen sorting their catch. There are several seafood stalls by the pier with prices much cheaper than in the city. Note: avoid visiting at noon when the sun is too harsh and fishermen are resting.
Coloane Trail (Partial Sections)
Walking south from the fishing village, there's a coastal walkway perfect for strolls. The full trail is about 4 kilometers, but we recommend walking only the first 1 kilometer to the viewing platform then turning back. This section offers a panoramic view of Coloane Bay with Zhuhai Hengqin on the opposite shore. The trail has some steep sections — wear comfortable shoes and bring enough water.
Tam Kong Temple
Coloane's oldest temple, built during the Qing Dynasty, primarily dedicated to the sea god Tam Kong. Though the temple is small, it has thriving incense offerings, especially on the 23rd day of the third lunar month during Tam Kong's birthday when the entire Coloane area becomes very lively. Inside the temple, there's a model of a keel boat said to be the divine vessel Tam Kong rode when manifesting — worth a close look.
Praia de Hac Sa (Hac Sa Beach)
Macao's only natural beach, with fine soft sand and clear seawater. Though not large, its appeal lies in being uncrowded and peaceful. The beach has basic facilities including changing rooms and rinse showers. The most beautiful time is summer evenings when you can watch the stunning sunset. Winter winds are stronger but still suitable for walks.

Restaurant options in Coloane are limited but each has its own character. Lord Stow's egg tarts are a must-try — the original store is right in Coloane town center. Several seafood restaurants' signature dishes are curry crab and salt-baked fresh shrimp, priced about 30% cheaper than in Taipa.
Photography Tips
The best times to photograph Coloane are 10-11 AM and 4-5 PM when the light is soft. The church's yellow-white exterior looks especially photogenic under the blue sky, and the colorful fishing boats at the pier make excellent backgrounds.
